DURANGO AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Rd, Durango
The criterium race will be held on Sunday, May 25. We have no involvement. They are short of volunteers, so if anyone wants, I am sure we can find a place for them. On Monday, May 26, there will be a time trial on east Animas road CR250. If you are not familiar with this type of racing, only one racer starts at a time and must not draft behind anyone, if they catch them. I think they said they have 500 entries. The first racer will be started at 7:00 AM and racers follow at 30 second intervals with the last start at 11:30. The north bound lane will be closed from the Jehovah Witness Church to Shalona hill, a distance of about 14 miles. The radio club has been asked to have 2 or 3 operators on the course mostly to provide safety information. There is a volunteer party at Steamworks on the 29th. I don't remember the time, but I will find out before the meeting on the 14th. The above is from Paul Staby. We do need more operators for Saturday and several for the time trials on Monday. Please let us hear from you either at the club meeting or email to darc@bresnan.net. To date we have the following for Saturday: Shauna and Steve Blaylock CALENDAR ARRL Field Day, June 28-29. Do we want to have a Field Day operation this year? If so please speak up. Hardrock Hundred Run, July 11-13th. Operators are needed here too. Contact Shauna and Steve Blaylock at ssblaylock.msn.com.
